I was born February 2nd, 1998 in Porterville California. I am the youngest of three and I live in a household of five. I’m a proud aunt of a beautiful one year old. My parents are both Spanish speakers and understand a little English. They have been separated since I was four. I visit my dad on the weekends at his house here in Lindsay. Living in two homes has been difficult for me because my parents raised me with different rules and ideas in their household. Such as I’m not allowed to wear makeup on the weekends, but during the week I can wear it all I want. Since the age of eight or nine I have been attending the Lindsay Seventh Day Adventist church. I attended Lincoln from first up to fifth grade halfway through the fifth grade I moved to Tulare and attended Pleasant Elementary. I returned back to Lindsay my sixth and seventh grade year. I moved back to Tulare for my eighth and ninth grade. My eighth and ninth were the best because I actually liked going to school those schools were pretty great.
The struggle I faced the most was changing schools and keeping up with school work. It was difficult adjusting to different systems because different districts require different things. My freshman year at Tulare Union Tech Basic and Health were not a requirement. As a senior I have to take it while I could be working on something else. I still don’t like how they grade by 1,2,3, and 4. In Tulare I learned different ways of doing my work and when I try it that way I sometimes get told that I’m doing it wrong because at LHS it's different. My sophomore year was tough on me because I didn't really understand the system I was really confused.
I have learned that no matter how many times I have failed on something I can always can keep trying and succeeded on it. I’m someone who fails a lot but I never give up because I know it’s worth the gain. I fall behind in classes but I try my best to get help and keep trying to do everything in my hands to improve. I stay after school to do work and ask teachers for help on a subject. I also ask friends to help me and a subject they strongly know. My freshman year at Union I didn't understand Algebra but when I came to LHS I understood it. At first I wasn’t really getting it I was falling behind because math is not my best subject. I took control and started asking questions, I also stayed after school to catch up and get help. I learned from working hard and not giving up I can do anything I set my mind to.
“When you know what you want, and want it bad enough, you will find a way to get it.” JIm Rohn I really want to graduate with my class so I’m trying everything I can so I can be on pace. I’m staying for night school to pass more classes and I’m doing work at home just to stay on pace. I don’t want to be stuck here another year. My goal is to try to stay on pace and finish other classes so I won’t be stuck here doing nothings I should have been done with. I’m doing my best to achieve this because i want to graduate to make my parents proud.
